Greetings Louisburg UMC,
I hope that you have had a great week! Looks like the weather is going to be great this weekend.
Thank you, to everyone who came last Saturday to our workday. We got a lot done. We are meeting again tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. We have mulch coming today and we are hoping to get the flower beds spruced up before we move into Holy Week.
Speaking of Holy Week, Sunday is Palm Sunday. We will celebrate Palm Sunday with the waving of Palms, as we celebrate the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. People were so excited to see Jesus. They treated him as a king! Also on Sunday, we will conclude our sermon series called "The Ten Commandments Today." Our focus this week turns to "Thou shall not covet." The word "covet" might be translated as a desire for what others have. I hope you will join us Sunday as we look at this commandment and search the scriptures to see how God desires for us to handle thoughts and feelings of coveting.
Palm Sunday is just the beginning of Holy Week. Next week we have services as follows:
-Maundy Thursday at 7:00 pm with communion
-Good Friday at 7:00 pm
-Easter: 3 services at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 am.
-Easter Egg Hunt after the 9:30 service at around 10:40.
A year ago, we found ourselves in quarantine for Holy Week. I hope this year you will join us for all the services as we join together again in walking through that last week of Jesus' life.
Finally, just a quick note about the church. We have started the year off positively in terms of finances. But we have an expensive repair on a furnace, and we are hoping to change all the outdoor lights over to LED soon. The cost for all of this is approximately $7000. If you would like to help the church cover these costs, you can write a check and note your gift for these expenses in the memo, or you can give through our website and specify your gift there. Thank you again for your continued support of the church.
Blessings,
Pastor Brad
