The Better Together capital campaign is off to a great start! On Sunday, September 12 the campaign launched with information on the campaign, team meetings, and lunch, because we are #BetterTogetherLUMC! The last two weeks in worship Debbie Alford and Diane Chastain spoke about how the Holy Spirit is alive and moving LUMC forward toward the new building. Katie Satrom also spoke during the August Church Conference about her reasons for supporting the campaign. If you missed any of their testimonies, you can view them on the Capital Campaign page on here on the website

Now that it’s almost October, here are the #BetterTogetherLUMC things to know:

  1. You should have received in the mail a Better Together campaign brochure and pledge card. Please look through all the information, let us know if you have any questions before you fill out your pledge card, and continue praying “Lord, what do you want to do through me (us).” If your brochure hasn’t arrived, be sure to let us know!
  2. In the next two weeks, you should expect a call from one of our ambassadors. They will be calling every family in the church to check and see if you received the Better Together Campaign brochure, to answer any questions, and to invite you to let us know how we can be praying for you.
  3. Our mid-campaign dinners are coming up in the next few weeks. Everyone should plan to attend one of the campaign dinners. The dates are:
    • October 5: Taco dinner at church, 6:00 pm ·
    • October 7: Zoom information meeting with Pastor Brad at 6:30 pm ·
    • October 14: Spaghetti dinner at church, 6:00 pm

Sign up for one of the dinners via email info@louisburgumc.org, the Connection Point this Sunday, via our Facebook post, or through church text: 913-521-5673. At the in-person meetings, we will have dinner, a presentation, a Q&A session, and we will also go outside to the future building location to discuss the layout of the new building and to pray. During the Zoom meeting Pastor Brad even walk around outside to show you the new building site.  The same information will be presented at each of the meetings.

Beginning this Sunday, we will have the Better Together photo booth set up in the lobby. Every family is invited to have their picture taken and tell us why you are excited about the new building!  It’d be great to tag any photos shared on social media with #BetterTogetherLUMC.

      4. The campaign wraps up on Halloween Sunday with a celebration at 10:00 am between services to announcethe total amount of pledges received. Later that night, everyone is invited to join us at church for our community celebration from 5:00 to 7:00 that includes trunk-or-treat, free hot dogs & chips and our awesome worship band playing our favorite Sunday morning music where our future stage will be.

Blessings, The #BetterTogetherLUMC Leadership Team
